A Little Bit About Me

I am the Director of the Center for Educational Excellence at the Caesar Rodney Institute, a public policy think tank in Delaware. Public education in Delaware is terrible despite very high education spending. Delaware K-12 schools perform fourth from the bottom in the country in English and math. Yet the state is among the top ten in per pupil spending. I investigate where Delaware schools are failing and research education policy that works in other states to determine whether it would benefit Delaware students. I write articles on these findings and inform the citizenry and state legislators about what changes would benefit Delaware students.

I have my masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Delaware. I interned, worked, and took counseling classes at the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation affiliated with Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia PA. I had a private practice for several years affiliated with my church where I counseled individuals, couples, kids and families. I love to write and have many publications not only on my website but also at ConventionofStates.com.

I have taught women's and couple's Sunday school classes as well as college courses and have led numerous Bible study groups and small groups studying various books of the Bible as well as topical studies. I have written numerous articles for Convention of States at Conventionofstates.com in addition to those on my website. I am also a public speaker and have done presentations on topics within the area of counseling and Christianity.

I have been married 29 years and have 2 kids--a 17 year old boy and an 13 year old girl.

I enjoy gardening, drawing, painting, walking my dogs, hiking, reading, home improvement projects, and being the deaconess "in charge of all things floral" at my church.  I love writing--especially for my website where I can talk about counseling, family, parenting, devotional and current issues with likeminded individuals like you.
